How to get involved

Patient Research Ambassador

We are always looking to recruit Patient Research Ambassadors to join our team.  A Patient Research Ambassador is someone who promotes health research from a patient point of view.  They could be a patient, service user, carer or lay person who is enthusiastic about health research and willing to communicate that to other patients and public as well as healthcare professionals.

Their role is supported by the National Institute for Health Research and national information can be found here

In our hospital we work with our Patient Research Ambassadors to promote our work and encourage others to take part.  For example, we host stands that inform people what research we do, and how to get involved.  We ensure that all our Patient Research Ambassadors are supported by our Patient Volunteer Network and are fully briefed on research by the Research & Development Office before they undertake the role.

Lay Review Panel

We have recently trained a small group of interested members and governors into the background of clinical research so they can now read patient facing research materials for us, and edit them to be more understandable to the public.  We fully support this small group and offer full background and briefings on clinical research before they start this role.

If you would be interested in finding out more about these roles or in applying to get involved in our research please contact:
